Port Moody Panthers General Manager and Head Coach Peter Zerbinos announced today that the team has acquired forward William Hazell-Penaluna from the Grandview Steelers in exchange for forward Cameron Judson.
Hazell-Penaluna, 17, appeared in 28 games for the Steelers this season, recording 19 points (8-11-19) and ranked ninth on the team in scoring. His point total was second among rookie players on Grandview and his two game-winning goals was also tied for second-most on the Steelers. As well, two of Hazell-Penaluna's eight goals have come on the power play.
The Port Moody native was an affiliate player of the Panthers in 2016-17, getting into one game with the team. He also played five games with the Vancouver NE Chiefs of the BC Major Midget League, but spent the majority of the season with the Port Moody Midget A1 team.
Hazell-Penaluna was a key contributor as Port Moody won the Midget Tier 2 BC Hockey Championship last spring. He had ten points (8-2-10) in six games, including a four-goal game. On that team, Hazell-Penaluna was a teammate of current Panthers Jaxan Lepp and Noah Findlater as well as Panthers affiliate players Carter Crawford, Fraser Hopewell, Ryan Suzukovich, and Liam Marshall.
The Panthers would like to thank Cameron for his contributions on and off the ice over the past two seasons and wish him all the best with Grandview.
