Panthers' Chubbs joins BCHL's Coquitlam Express

Port Moody Panthers

The Port Moody Panthers announced today that forward Benjamin Chubbs has joined the Coquitlam Express of the BC Hockey League for their 2020-21 season.

Chubbs, who stands 6'0" and 180 lbs., played all eight Panthers games this season.

"I’m excited about the opportunity to move up to the BCHL for the rest of the season. Especially with how unique this year has been, I’m looking forward to getting back to playing games," said Chubbs.

He had three goals and an assist with the Panthers before games were paused in November due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We are extremely happy to see Benjamin move to junior A. He consistently worked hard at improving all areas of his game during his time with us," said Panthers head coach Terry Morrison. "He came to our organization with a great attitude and determination to be the best player he could be."

Chubbs, who hails from Vancouver, BC, notched three goals and nine assists in 42 games as a rookie with the Panthers in 2019-20.

"Even though we didn’t get to play many games this year, being able to practice and compete with the guys really helped me to keep improving throughout the season," added Chubbs. "The extra time the coaches take with players also allowed me to work on areas of my game I wanted to improve upon."
