DHA U16 Prep forward Lee commits to the Panthers for 2021-22

The Port Moody Panthers are excited to announce the signing of 2005-born forward Dong Eun Lee for the 2021-22 Pacific Junior Hockey League season.

Lee, a resident of Surrey, got into three games with Delta Hockey Academy U16 Prep in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League this past season. 

"I am very excited to play in Port Moody because of the great environment to train in and the great coaching I will get," Lee said.

The legacy of Korean players on the Panthers, from Chong Hyun Lee and Chong Min Lee earlier this decade to Jinhyeon Kim and Jihwan Kim on last year's team, played a role in Lee deciding to start his junior hockey career in Port Moody.

"My goal for the first year in junior hockey is to work hard and try to make an impact on the team. Like the other Korean players who played in Port Moody, my goal is to play junior A."

Both Chong Hyun and Chong Min were affiliate players in the BC Hockey League while playing for the Panthers and made the jump to junior A the following season.

During the 2019-20 season with Delta Hockey Academy U15 Prep White, Lee had two goals and five points in 26 games. He is a two-way forward who will help with the Panthers transition game when his line is on the ice.

"I’m a defensive forward who can also move the puck efficiently to create scoring chances," he explained.

Lee joins Marcus Olsen as the rookie players committed to the Panthers for the 2021-22 PJHL season.
