The Port Moody Panthers announced today that the team has signed right wing and Edmonton Oil Kings prospect Carson Latimer for the 2020-21 season.
Latimer joins the Panthers after playing 31 games with the Delta Hockey Academy Prep team of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in 2019-20. With the Wild, he recorded 15 goals and 34 assists to lead DHA in scoring. He added a goal in the CSSHL playoffs before they were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 17-year-old also made his WHL debut on Dec. 3 in Edmonton and scored the opening goal in a 3-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors. He was named the game's first star for his efforts.
Latimer wound up playing six games with the Oil Kings between Dec. 3 and Jan. 19, finishing with one goal, five shots, and a plus-minus rating of +2.
He was selected by the Oil Kings in the 3rd round, 48th overall in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. Latimer also represented Team BC at the 2019 Canada Winter Games and finished with three points in seven games.
