Panthers announce 2020-21 first half schedule

The Port Moody Panthers announced today the details of the first half of their 2020-21 Pacific Junior Hockey League schedule.

On Sept. 25, the PJHL announced that the season would consist of a 36-game schedule compared to the normal 44-game schedule. As per viaSport BC’s current regulations, the first 18 games of the schedule have the Panthers in a cohort with the Grandview Steelers and Richmond Sockeyes.

The Panthers will play their home games for the first half of the season at the Richmond Olympic Oval due to the Port Moody Arena not being able to host their games due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

The Panthers start the season as the home team at the Oval on Saturday, October 17 against the Sockeyes at 6:45 pm. 

The first half home schedule consists of nine Saturday night games. The Panthers play Richmond five times at home and four times on the road. They play four home games and five road games against Grandview.

Road games against the Sockeyes are on Thursday nights at the Richmond Ice Centre and road games against the Steelers are on Sunday nights at the Burnaby Winter Club.

Following a two week quarantine period around Christmas, the Panthers will play the remainder of the 2020-21 season in a different cohort to be determined at a later date.

Due to COVID-19 protocols in place at all three arenas the Panthers are playing in, spectators are not permitted at this time. The PJHL is looking into various broadcast options so the games can be watched online.
