Earl of March rides big 2nd quarter to win

Earl of March and Nepean met for the final game of their 3 games series.  Earl had won the first game with the second game being tied.  Nepean was gunning for a win in the third game to finish the season series tied.  Nepean was facing some injury woes with starting midfielder Bridget West on the sidelines injured.  Meanwhile her sister Margot was in for her first game with Nepean.  Earl lined up an imposing full bench.

The first quarter was back and forth with Nepean having some early success with pressure down the right side on the strength of Karina Gruson's play.   But Earl was able to control the middle on the experienced steady play of Isabella Beck. A new Nepean midfield paring of Hillary Wight and Ellie Towaj were working well together.

The second quarter started 0-0 but Earl exploded with Siara Mehdi potting 3 goals in a natural hat trick.  Nepean just didn't have a response and finished the 2nd quarter on their back foot looking out of sorts.

It was a different Nepean team that came out to start the third quarter. They played with a chip on their shoulder and generated attacks and opportunities finally culminating in a penalty stroke for Nepean.  Margot West calmly fired home the stroke to put Nepean on the board at 3-1.  Nepean continued to push and it looked like they had generated a second penalty stroke but not in the controlling umpires eyes.

The 4th quarter still had a fired up Nepean team pushing but Isabella Beck calmly controlled a ball in the D and flicked it off her backhand into the goal.  Final score was 4-1 for Earl.
