Eric Brook

On Sunday July 31, Bears host CBR Brave in their final meeting of the season at Penrith Ice Palace. Brave have won 2 games (both in regulation) while the Bears have won one game in a shootout.

This weekend, Bears play North Stars in Newcastle the previous day. This game is Brave's only game of the weekend. Next weekend, Bears host Thunder on Sunday while Brave host Melbourne Ice in a double header weekend.

Leading into this weekend, Brave are in 3rd place with 40 points from 22 games (12-7-1-2). Before their game against North Stars, Bears are in 6th place with 25 points from 21 games (4-9-5-3).

Last weekend, Brave hosted a double header weekend against a depleted and injury-struck Adelaide Adrenaline. Brave won both games in a high scoring weekend (7-2 on Saturday, 8-5 on Sunday). Bears hosted Thunder and went down 4-2 at Penrith Ice Palace. Thunder's 3 goals in under 90 seconds in period 3 led to a Bears fightback.

In Bears scoring, Tomas Landa is equal in goals with Cameron Todd (10 goals) while Landa is leading points scorer (27) and assists (17). Bears goals last weekend against Perth Thunder went to Michael Schlamp & Billy Cliff.

For Brave, Mathieu Guertin and Stephen Blunden share the top goal scorer title with 16 goals each. Guertin is leading points scorer (43) while he is equal leader in assists with Casey Kubara (27).

In net, Anthony Kimlin has 7 wins for the season for Bears. His Goals Against Average (GAA) per game is 3.02 and his save percentage (SV%) is .911. In both key goalie stats, he leads both Brave goalies. Aleski Toivonen has 9 wins, 3.83 GAA & .887 SV% from 18 games while Alex Tetreault has similar figures from 8 games (3.70 GAA, .886 SV%), scoring 4 wins.

This game will be streamed live on the Bears Live audio stream from 4.30pm with puck drop at 5pm at Penrith Ice Palace. A large crowd including traveling fans from Canberra is expected.

Note - All Bears stats are prior to the Saturday 30 July game against North Stars.
