Tiebreakers
(a) At the completion of the AIHL Regular Season, Teams are
ranked in order from first to last. The Team who finishes in first
position at the conclusion of the AIHL Regular Season will be
crowned the Minor Premiers and will be awarded the Minor
Premiers’ Trophy.
(b) The position of each Team at the end of the AIHL Regular
Season will be determined based on the following criteria:
(i) Highest number of points accumulated during the AIHL
Regular Season (first) to lowest number of points accumulated
during the AIHL Regular Season (last).
(ii) If two (2) or more Teams are level on points accumulated
during the AIHL Regular Season, the following criteria must be
applied in the order that they appear, until the Teams can be
ranked:
(A) Superior point percentage from actual AIHL Regular Season
Games played (i.e. excluding Cancelled Games and points
earned from Cancelled Games).
(B) The greater number of AIHL Regular Season Games won,
including AIHL Regular Season Games won in overtime but
excluding AIHL Regular Season Games won in a penalty-shot
shootout.
(C) The greater number of points earned in AIHL Regular
Season Games between the tied Teams, excluding:
(1) Cancelled Games (i.e. excluding Cancelled Games and
points earned from Cancelled Games); and
(2) if the Teams have not played an equal number of home
AIHL Regular Season Games against each other (after
exclusion of Cancelled Games), “additional” home AIHL Regular
Season Game(s) played starting from the last home AIHL
Regular Season Game.
Example:
• Team A and Team B played four (4) AIHL Regular Season
Games during Season.
• The Home Team in each game was: Team A (Game 1), Team
B (Game 2), Team A (Game 3), Team B (Game 4 – Cancelled
Game).
• Points earned in Game 4 are excluded under clause 4.1(f)(ii)
(C)(1) (Cancelled Game) and points earned in Game 3 are
excluded under clause 4.1(f)(ii)(C)(2) (last “additional” home
Game for Team A).
(D)The greater differential between goals for and against
during the AIHL Regular Season (including the one (1) goal
awarded to a Team as a result of winning a penalty-shot
shootout).
(E) The greater number of goals for during the AIHL Regular
Season (including the one (1) goal awarded to a Team as a
result of winning a penalty-shot shootout).
(F)The flip of a coin.
