Today we farewell #80 Dash Quartarolo from our defensive lines as he plays his last game with us before heading to New Hampshire to commence his season with the Pilgrims in the NCAA division 3 team. Courtney spoke with Dash about his time with the Northstars, “It was a good feeling coming here, I really enjoyed my time with the Northstars. Newcastle has a great organisation, and it has been a good time here with the Northstars. There are really professional people involved, the coaching staff especially. The guys are great, so I felt really lucky that I was involved with this organisation, getting my first goal and putting some points up for the team” “I will be playing at the New England College in new Hampshire, NCAA division three. Our coach Tom Carrol is a great mentor and coach. He was at Notre Dame for over 20 years and at NEC for another 20 years too and he’s going to be a great guy to learn from” Coach John Kennedy shared his appreciation for Dash joining the Northstars this season, “Dash bolstered our line-up, he’s a big body. He’s big and fast with a lot of skill to go along with him. He’s a developing player, so for us it was great having him in the line-up to see who he is and hopefully he keeps coming back. He is a great prospect for us to have in our program”. Having Dash join us “was one of those weird things that happen, it started with a conversation between Amelia and Dash’s dad, and before we knew it, we had this 6”4 defenseman on our blue line. We’re glad he came, and he provided a lot for us.” Heading over to New England “is going to help with his speed, physicality and decision making. It’s going to be great for him. He was coming of an injury so he couldn’t play a full season last year plus covid. For Dash going into this season, it’s going to be the repetitions, playing against top forwards and top lines consistently and the pace of the game is going to help him. We expect he’s only going to get better as he goes along. He’s a young kid so there’s plenty of improvements to be made and plenty of time to make it.” You can follow along with the teams progress here: https://athletics.nec.edu/sports/mice/index From everyone at the Northstars, we wish you all the best Dash and hope to see you back in the Northstars colours again soon! |
