South Australian Zach Boyle has been named the first MVP in NHSL History.
The smooth skating defenseman put together a fantastic season for the Port Adelaide Brewers.
Boyle was named a marquee player and he did not disappoint. He scored nine goals to lead all defensemen and finish third in the entire league.
He chipped in another three assists to finish the year with 12 points - good for sixth in the league.
Not bad for a blue liner.
Boyle had a few trademark games but none was bigger than a Friday 4 February game vs the Noarlunga Stars. If the Brewers lost that game they would have been eliminated.
Boyle scored two goals and two assists for a big four point night and the Brewers won 8-3.
Impressively, he led all players with a +11 +/-. That's five points higher than the next closest. It's a good indication that his defensive capability improved.
Boyle and the Brewers continue their battle in the NHSL Finals vs the Adelaide Xtreme on Friday evening at 7:00PM. The Brewers lead the best-of-five series 1-0.
