Riders play Kimberley and Nelson at home this weekend. Jan 25-26


Ghostrider fans will get to see two top KIJHL teams this weekend.  

 On Friday (Jan 25th) the Kimberley Dynamiters are in town and this is the final regular season game between these two teams. The last time Fernie played Kimberley was January 4th and 5th. The Riders won at home and Kimberley won in Kimberley. 

The Dynamiters aren’t slowing down and no one will catch them in the standings but they did the Ghostriders a favour by winning  8-1 in Invermere last Friday then 3-0  at home to the Rockies on Tuesday. 

Kimberley has only lost 5 games all season and it was the Ghostriders who served them one of those losses and they also tied them 2-2 as well.

All the games have been hard fought battles so get to the rink early Friday we were sold out the last time they were here January 4th and had to turn away fans.

Saturday’s Game

Saturday's game is against the Nelson Leafs . The Leafs are in First place in the Neil Murdoch Division more than 10 points up on Beaver Valley so they will finish in first place and play either Spokane or Castlegar in the first round.

Nelson has only lost nine games all year and are a formidable opponent with two twenty goal scorers in the lineup, Jack Karran (22) and Reid Wilson with 24 goals each and their goalie Caiden Kreitz has a 9.46 save %, tops in the league. Head Coach is Mario DiBella

Ghostrider Notes

The Ghostriders are on a five game point streak where they picked up 9 points but should have been 10 except for a disallowed goal against the Rockies. The game ended up a 2-2 tie. With the 9 point run the Ghostriders have overtaken Columbia Valley and are now in second place by 5 points.

In the Rockies 2-2 tie game both Rider goals were on the power play. Dylan Defosse (1G1A) and Tyler Witzke were the scorers and Kyle Ford had two assists Jordan Kromm one. Riley Fonger was in net, it was his second tie this year.

The Riders won 2-1 in overtime in Spokane last Friday when Owen Titus scored with just six seconds left in the OT. Johnny Elias had a goal and an assist in that win and an assist in Grand Forks. Justin Faiella got the win in net.

In Grand Forks Jordan Kromm scored two third period goals to lead the Riders to a 5-3 win. Aiden Gleisner, Brendan Nemes and Keelan Saworski scored the other goals and Riley Fonger had the win in net.

Brendan Nemes scored his 19th goal in Grand Forks, he is tied with Tyler Witzke in goal scoring followed by Jordan Kromm with 18.

The Ghostrider bus broke down in Castlegar last Saturday night and the players didn’t get home until 2:30 in the afternoon on Sunday. It was a long weekend for the players and Coaches.
