The Ghostriders have won 15 games so far, that's as many as they won all last year.

Tonight’s Game

Tonight we have the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in town for the first time this year. The Ghostriders played in BV on September 8th and  lost 7-2, it was the second game of the season.

Between the first and second period the pre-novice team will play a short game

The Hawks won both of their games last weekend 4-2 in Grand Forks and 7-4 against Creston and now have 32 points in 28 games and are on a 4 game winning streak.

Expect to see former Riders Cole Gibson and Kevin Duguid tonight, they are now with the Hawks.

Hawk’s Head Coach and GM Terry Jones won his 1000th KIJHL game last month, a 5-3 win against the first place Revelstoke Grizzlies. He has also won eight KIJHL Championships and four Cyclone Taylor Cups.

The Ghostriders played two games last weekend, they won 6-0 against Spokane then defeated Golden 5-2 in Golden on Saturday. On Tuesday in Invermere the Riders won a close game 6-5 when Simon Bergsagel scored his second goal of the game with just 10 seconds left in the third period. It was the Ghostriders 5th win in a row.

Ghostrider Notes

With 5 goals and 3 assists in three games Simon Bergsagel was named as the the Tim Hortons Player of the Week. Kyle Klein was the McDonald’sPractice Player of the Week.

Brendan Nemes had a night, 1 goal and 5 assists vs Spokane.

With 5 goals and 7 assists in his six game scoring streak Jordan Krommhas taken over the Rider scoring lead with 29 points in 26 games.

Kyle Ford from Niki Sombrowski and Sawan Gill scored his first goal in a few games in Golden and it turned out to be the game winner.

Gavin Lawrie’s PP goal late in the first period in the Spokane game was the Teddy bear Toss goal.

 Dylan Defosse had 3 assists against the Rockies and scored two in Golden.

 Simon Bergsagel’s PP goal in Invermere was the Riders 19th PP goal .

Nikolas Sombrowski scored 2 goals against the Rockies and had an assist in both games on the weekend giving him 10 goals and 17 points.

Gregg Susinski leads the team in PIM with 74 and the D with 18 points. With 2 assists last week Sawan Gill is next with 13.

Sebastian Iannuzzi had a goal and an assist Tuesday, his first goal of the year. 

David Lenzin had a goal and 3 assists last week giving him 9 goals and 16 assists.

Fernie continues to kill penalties as well as anyone in the league and have an 89.92 %, second best in the league behind Revelstoke who are at 94.37%

 

The Riders are in Golden Saturday in Kimberley next Tuesday, both games are secheduled Drive 99.1 radio broadcast games.

Friday December 21st the Riders host the Golden Rockets
