The first half of the 2019-20 CRJHL schedule wrapped up at the end of December.
The St. Malo Warriors dominated winning 17 of their 18 games, with two of those coming in overtime. Selkirk is solidly in second place, with 15 wins (including 2 in overtime), but dropping 1 game in regulation and 2 in OT. Lundar is currently in 3rd place, with Arborg in 4th and North Winnipeg holding down fifth spot.
St. Malo’s offensive attack is being led by a pair of rookies – Max Collette has been tearing up the scoresheet with 26 goals and 19 assists to lead the league with 45 points. Christian Hince currently sits second in league scoring with 9 goals and 24 assists for 33 points. Alex Murray is third overall with 19 goals and 13 assists for 32 points.
Lundar’s Braden Paulic sits 4th in league scoring with 16 goals and 9 assists for 25 points, while his teammate Josh Wilkinson has 22 points (14G, 8A).
Eli Caparros of the North Winnipeg Satelites leads his team with 9 goals and 12 assist for 21 points.
Selkirk’s Evan Bedard is sitting 7th in the league in scoring with 12 goals and 8 assists (20 points), while teammate Chad King has 20 points (8G, 12A) in just 12 games.
Blaze Bezecki leads the Arborg Ice Dawgs at the half with 11 goals and 7 assists for 18 points. Ice Dawgs captain Josh Roche sits second in team scoring and tenth in the league with 8 goals and 8 assists.
Playing in just 4 games in the first half, Selkirk rookie goaltender Owen Derewianchuk has a sparkling 4-0 record with 1 shutout and a 1.25 GAA. St. Malo rookie goaltending tandem of Evan Van Laeken (10-1, 2 SO, 1.98 GAA) & Ryland Medwick (7-0, 2.14 GAAA) are leading the way for their team. Fishermen assistant captain and veteran Riley Bannerman has posted a 7-2-1 record with a 2.29 GAA, while Fish goalie Brenden Hocaluk has a 4-0-1 record with 1 SO & a 2.52 GAA. Josh Anderson of the Satelites has posted a 2-4-1 record with a 4.10 GAA. Chris Lesage of Lundar sits with a 4-7-2 record and a 4.60 GAA. Arborg’s Tre Strachan and Michael Merpaw have mostly split their games this season, and combined for a 5-13 record the end of December.
