Got a mate (or two) that has never been too a hockey game before? Need to convince them to come see a game? Well maybe this can help.
Here are five reasons to come see the Adelaide Adrenaline play the Melbourne Ice at 4:30PM on both Saturday and Sunday.
All tickets are under $20 and we recommend getting tickets online at www.bit.ly/adrenalinetickets before the weekend. Trust us - you won't regret checking out a game.
We're all volunteer run but we play in the eight team Australian Ice Hockey League. We need your help beating Melbourne this weekend!
Now, to the list (with photos from Frank Kutsche)...
1) It's fast. It's fierce. It's full on.
If you've never been to a game before this one is for you. We promise the game is easy to understand but it's the intensity that will get you.
What's better than spending a couple hours watching two teams go full throttle. Body checks. Slick dangles. Hard shots. The occasional "argument". You can't help but get wrapped up in it right away.
2) This team is a reflection of the Ice Hockey Community in SA and all have full time jobs
We are made up of players that play in our local leagues (plus four imports...four pro players from overseas!). All of them sacrifice time from work, school or families to put their body on the line to represent South Australia and our community.
We are a product of our environment and the IceArenA is our home.
We are the players who learned to skate on the small ice. We are the players you coached. We are the guys who play Premier League. We played Ginsberg, Tange, juniors, Browns Tournaments and all in between!
This year every single player on the team plays in the local competition. If you're already part of the hockey community get around the boys!
They play hard for you so let's cheer hard for them!
3) This version of the Adrenaline is a young, hard-working, gritty team
The Adrenaline reshaped their roster. This year's team is hard-working and at their opponent every shift. The team has eight rookies on the team from all ages (17 to 33).
But it's the attitude they bring to the ice. They come ready to work. Ready to hit. Ready to play. They bring a never say die attitude even against tough opponents.
Oh...and by the way....our opponent this weekend (Melbourne Ice) is pretty damn good. They've only lost three games in the last year and are the reigning premiers.
Luckily we have the home crowd behind us because....
4) Hockey crowds are the best and make a HUGE difference
It's David vs. Goliath this weekend and we need your help to take down the beasts from Melbourne. Home crowds can frustrate oppositions and get under the skin.
There's nothing like the feeling you get when the team scores a massive goal and turns the crowd upside down and raises the roof. Whether it be chanting, screaming, or catching up with mates...it makes a huge difference to the players when you get behind them.
(See Adrenaline import Caleb Apperson scoring the late winner last Saturday)
And don't be afraid to chirp the opposition...
Be warned though, it's cold so bundle up!
5) Our imports are pretty good and fun to watch!
In 2018 we brought over four professional hockey players to play on our team. Wow are they ever skilled!
Caleb Apperson and Alex Adams are two Canadian defenseman who had nine points combined in two games last weekend (that's really good!). They catch your eye as soon as you're at the rink.
Ales Kratoska is a Czech professional player who leads the league in scoring.
Sebastian Andersson (Below) is our goalie who plays professional hockey in Sweden. He's stole us a couple games already.
