The Sydney Bears are excited to announce the signing of forward, Ryan Lough!

The Ontario native has spent the last four years playing NCAA hockey at St. Lawrence University. In his senior year, Lough was named Assistant Captain and had an impressive 14 points in 37 games. Lough finished the season by being signed to finish the year in the ECHL with Manchester Monarchs where he scored on debut.
 

Prior to beginning his NCAA career Lough spent a season in the USHL where he captained the Green Bay Gamblers and two seasons in the BCHL where in his second season captained the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
 

His leadership and point scoring ability is what impressed Sydney Bears Vice President, Matthew Burrell who said:
“Ryan is going to be a huge addition to the team. His leadership is going to really push the younger guys on the team and will help them develop the skills necessary to play AIHL level hockey. That’s what we’re really excited about. That along with his impressive scoring ability, he’s definitely going to be one to watch league wide.”
 

Bears fans can expect a quick skater and impressive puck control from Lough whose playmaking ability is going to be crucial in the high scoring AIHL.
 

On making the trip Down Under, Lough is excited to explore everything Australia has to offer:
 

“I've always wanted to travel to Australia and to play hockey while doing it is like a dream come true.
 

I’m also very excited to see a Wallaby. I think that would be very cool. I've heard so many great things about the city [Sydney] and have seen all the pictures of the Opera House so I can't wait to get there and tour around. My parents also just visited Sydney back in November of last year and said it was beautiful so I'm really looking forward to that.”
