In front of a capacity crowd at Hunter Ice Skating Stadium, the Northstars defeated the CBR Brave 7-5. “We wanted to finish the season on a high and finish the right way, and tonight, we did that,” shared Assistant Coach David Ferrari. “Even though we’re down a couple of players, I thought CBR brought their A-game tonight, forcing us to lift to play our best game.” “We stitched together 60 minutes of hockey tonight, and that’s what we’ve been working on putting together all year, and we’re seeing that come to fruition at the right time” continued Ferarri, “From first shift to last shift, we were relentless, and it's definitely a positive going into playoffs.” “Getting the job done tonight was fed by the crowd. We are really feeling the buzz of our sell-out crowds, and we’re going to carry that with us into the coming weeks.” “Our crowds are an extra guy that the bench feeds off, and the guys on the ice feel it, especially when they erupt with a chant or celebrating with us after a goal. We really see it in our following shifts as our guys are running off the adrenaline from the crowd” reflected Ferrari. Captain Liam Manwarring shared, “Everyone knows CBR Brave are one of the top teams in the league, so or us to win at this time of the season really builds momentum for us going into next weekend.” “We’ve had a lot of bumps this last month, and this win puts us right back on track to get the job done next week and as we head into Melbourne, and I am really proud of the boys tonight, everyone chipped in and it was unreal.” “We changed a few things up with some strategy and I think that’s helped us massively. It’s tough for teams to break out and do all the small things right and when everyone does their job and we are as close to perfect as we can be then we are setting ourselves up for finals.” “The crowd we have supporting us is so surreal and such an honor to not only lead this team, but also this community. It gets me emotional to think about how far sports have come in this city and having them apart of our team and our journey is special.” The Northstars now look ahead to the play in game one on Saturday August 19th. |
