57 year old W.I.S.A. "rookie" pitcher Jacques "Le Dominateur" Chouinard pitched both games; all 14 innings. He allowed only 5 earned runs, and NO WALKS vs the Padres today! Jacques also played his defensive position with ability and contributed offensively batting 3/7 with 2 RIB's.
Another rookie Brewzer - Carlo "The Hammer" Grassetti - powered his team with a solid 7/8 including a first game RF moonshot clear over the high fence, against a strong incoming breeze! In the second game he added a triple. Carlo accumulated 2 RBI's and scored 4 times in the twin-bill...
Sophomore Brewzer Francois "Frank" Labrie went 3/7 with 4 clutch RBI's and 1 run scored. He also shined at the shortstop position, fielding and catching many potential hits and turning them into outs.
After giving it all for his team in 2017 while diving for a bloop hit, Michel "Hot Glove" Toledano had to miss the second half of his rookie 2017 season with a serious injury to his left shoulder. Mark "Iron Man" Malone had another good day at the plate with 5 solid contact hits and 1 RBI, bringing his early stats to 7/10 in 3 games so far...A line drive straight to Miguel Ruspil's head was knocked down but not caught by the Padres pitcher. After pausing momentarily to make certain that Miguel was not injured, Mark proceeded to pump his 58 year old legs, beating out Miguel's throw at first base. Mark has never missed a Brewzers game since the start of the 2002 season...
An excellent performance today by all 10 Brewzers contributed to a rare doubleheader sweep. After 13 previous attempts, the Brewzers had never defeated the Padres since the start of the 2014 season, when the Padres joined W.I.S.A. Yes the beer tastes much better after games like these...
