Former Panther Carson Latimer wins WHL Central Division rookie of the year

Former Port Moody Panthers forward Carson Latimer is the Western Hockey League Central Division rookie of the year as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Latimer registered five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 22 games in his rookie season with the Edmonton Oil Kings. Latimer was selected by the Oil Kings in the third round, 48th overall, in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Surrey, BC product started the 2020-21 season with the Panthers. In eight games, Latimer had a goal and 11 assists for 12 points. 

He is also ranked 149th among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the 2021 NHL Draft.

By being the WHL Central Division rookie of the year, Latimer is also a nominee for the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as WHL rookie of the year.
