Panthers' May joins the WHL's Saskatoon Blades

Port Moody Panthers

The Port Moody Panthers announced today that forward Sammy May has joined the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

May, 17, was the Blades 11th round pick, 228th overall, in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. The 5'8", 182 lbs. forward played two games with the Panthers this season after signing with them in late October.

"Moving up to the WHL is a dream come true, I am super excited to get things started there," said May, who hails from Richmond, BC.

He had four points (three goals, one assist) before games were paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Sammy brought an outstanding level of professionalism and a great attitude every time he stepped on the ice," said Panthers head coach Terry Morrison. "We are thrilled to have played a role in his development and look forward to him excelling in the WHL."

May notched seven goals and 15 assists in 31 games with the Greater Vancouver U18 AAA Canadians in 2019-20.

"The Panthers welcomed me during the season with open arms, treated me as their own as soon as I showed up," added May. "The players and coaching staff are second to none."
