The University of Victoria is pleased to announce that defensemen Jake Tesarowski and Shane Kime will be joining the Vikes for the 2018/19 B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League season.
Tesarowski is a 5-foot-10, 185-pound blueliner from Regina, who played the majority of the 2017-18 season with the SJHL’s Estevan Bruins putting up five goals and 22 points in 37 games. He has also suited up for the BCHL's West Kelowna Warriors, NAHL's Brookings Blizzard and the SJHL's Melville Millionaires of the SJHL and the West Kelowna Warriors of the BCHL.
Vikes head coach Harry Schamhart expects that Tesarowski's leadership and experience will serve the team well next season.
“I chose UVic for the opportunity to pursue a degree at a top end school in an amazing location," says Tesarowski. "I'm currently in the Humanities program with the intent of getting into Law school.”
Kime joins the Vikes after spending the last two seasons across town with the VIJHL's Victoria Cougars. The West Vancouver product played a key two-way role in 69 regular season and playoff games for the Cougars, scoring nine goals and adding 41 assists.
Prior to joining the Cougars, Kime began his junior hockey career in the PJHL with the North Van Wolf Pack. He played his minor hockey with the Hollyburn Country Club before moving on for a pair of seasons with the BC Major Midget League's Vancouver NW Gaints.
“I chose UVic for the high level of education it offers and because it’s also close to home," says Kime, who is studying at the Peter Gustavson School of Business.. “Victoria is a great place to live and it also allows me to continue to play hockey at a high level."
Training camp for the Vikes opens in September with their preseason and regular season schedules being released soon.
