Braves Enegren aims to keep developing with Fighting Walleye in SIJHL

Two years of hard work with the Spokane Braves paid off for Alex Enegren.
The Coeur d' Alene, Idaho product is joining the expansion Kam River Fighting Walleye in the Superior International Junior Hockey League, based in Thunder Bay, Ont. Enegren says it’s a tremendous opportunity.
“I’m very excited to take my next step in development with Kam River,” says Enegren. “I’d also like to thank the Spokane Braves organization, coaches Mike Bay and Mike Brunette, all my teammates from the past two years, and the fans for allowing me to play for a great organization and for the great city of Spokane.”
In two seasons with the Braves, Enegren averaged 0.90 points per game, with 40 goals, 91 points in 98 career Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) games. In 11 playoff contests, the six-foot, 180 pound forward collected four points.
This season, Enegren was second in Braves scoring with 18 goals, 40 points in 49 games. Enegren had a very strong season, helping the Braves clinch a playoff spot for a second straight year.
“I also played very well defensively. I was fortunate enough to receive a lot of ice time from my coach Mike Bay, including power play time, which was great for my development, and I played with some great teammates that played a big role in my success,” he adds. “My offensive game, skating, strength, really got better in a lot of areas since breaking into the league two years ago.”
He was among the Braves leaders wearing an A as he helped guide a young team going through highs and lows. That helped Enegren mature off the ice. His overall skills improved a lot, which he credits to coach Bay, who he says does a great job of developing players.
“It was two of the most fun years of hockey I’ve ever played,” he says. “The KIJHL really is a great league for developing and sending you to the next level.”
