Border Bruins' Slack eager to keep developing with SJHL's Red Wings

Elvis Gorontzy-Slack is swapping his Grand Forks Border Bruins jersey for that of the Red Wings.
The Jasper, Alta., native has signed with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings. It’s a move Gorontzy-Slack feels good about as he is excited to move onto a higher level.
Gorontzy-Slack, the Neil Murdoch Division’s Rookie of the Year, chose the Red Wings as he feels it will be a good fit.

“I’m hoping to get to play a lot, but nothing is guaranteed if I don’t work hard,” says Gorontzy-Slack, who led the Border Bruins with 28 goals and 50 points in 42 games. “It will be better for my development. It's a good league for me. It's a pretty physical league and I play physical.”
Gorontzy-Slack, who joined the KIJHL from the Canadian Sport School Hockey League’s Banff Academy, says playing in the KIJHL with the Border Bruins helped him develop.
“The competition was really good,” he says. “My skating improved, I can shoot better. It helped me immensely. My defensive game got better as well.”
Gorontzy-Slack says he enjoyed his lone season in the league, saying it’s a really good league.
Gorontzy-Slack will be joined by Border Bruins linemate Kyle Bailey.
