Yotes Triple Posse

  Princeton Posse hosted Osoyoos Coyotes January 24 in a mid-week match up of two fierce rivals. It was also the only game scheduled for that evening in the KIJHL. 

  Osoyoos hit the score board first at 17:17 with a goal scored by Carter Robinson. Seth Kriese earned an assist on the play. The Coyotes made it 2-0 with another goal at 9:22. It was scored by Connor Onstein with Sam Reinbolt collecting an assist. Although the scoreboard told a slightly different story, the Posse had out-shot Osoyoos 15-9 in the first 20-minutes.

  The second period was a slightly better part of the game for the home team which struggled for the most part with Coyotes breaking up plays and stealing pucks. The Posse was at least getting some great shots on goal. At 5:21 Princeton’s Ethan Schmor let one fly that Daniel Paul, the Osoyoos goalie, managed to stop but in the process sent out a healthy rebound that went directly to Justin Fodchuk. Fodchuk slapped at the puck and although he didn’t hit it with full force his effort was rewarded when the puck slowly rolled over the goal line to Paul’s left and into the net. It was now a 2-1 game for Osoyoos with the Posse leading 24-16 on shots.

  The final frame was no less exciting. There were a lot of clean hits and several more shots on each end of the arena but the Yotes were clearly in control. They added their third goal of the game at 17:34. The short-handed marker was credited to Brock Marple and was unassisted. There were few penalties in the third, just four, so both sides focused on just playing the game. With 1:39 to play, Princeton pulled goalie Bobby Milligan for an extra man and although Osoyoos had difficulty getting the puck down the ice during that time, Princeton also struggled to get clean shots on goal.

  Final Score: Osoyoos 3, Princeton 1. Shots on Goal: Princeton 36, Osoyoos 27.
