Posse Pull Steam Into Double OT

  Princeton Posse hosted Summerland Steam December 19^th in Princeton Arena. The Tuesday night game was the final game for Princeton prior to the Christmas break. Heavy snow during the day dumped upwards of 6-inches throughout portions of the Similkameen and South Okanagan. It even closed the main highway between Summerland and Penticton for a portion of the day. However, the Steam was in Princeton on time and there were no delays.

  Princeton scored first at 3:38 of the first period. The power play goal was credited to Lane French. Assists went to Drew Carter and Jonathan Lee.

  The second period saw Summerland tie the match at 17:32. That was another power play goal with Morey Babakaiff earning the point. He had assistance from Blake Holowaty and Cody Swan. Princeton took back to lead with a power play goal at 14:09. Drew Carter had taken a pass from Lane French and rifled a shot that drilled into the back of the goal and bounced out from the netting. Jonathan Lee also collected an assist on the play.

  In the third period Summerland tied the game at 2-all with a power play goal at 13:40. Simon Snyman took the point with assists going to Morey Babakaiff and Blake Holowaty. Both sides played with goalies in place to the final buzzer which pushed the game into overtime.

  The first 5-minute OT frame ended with no further scoring although Princeton had a power play in the final 2-minutes. The second OT gave Summerland a power play with just over two minutes remaining. As time expired, Princeton’s Lane French scooped up the puck and raced on the Steam goal. He got tripped up by Summerland’s Brogan Lautard which set French up for a penalty shot. French went it from one side, crossed over in front of the net but could not capitalize on the move.

  Final Score: Princeton 2, Summerland 2 (OT). Shots on Goal: Summerland 49, Princeton 34.

  Princeton’s next game is not until after New Year’s Day.
