Posse Make It An 1-1 Week
Princeton Posse hosted Osoyoos Coyotes December 13 at Princeton Arena. It was a midday, mid-week match and the only game scheduled in the league for that date. The mid-December afternoon game has become a bit of a tradition for local school children as it is a game where elementary students are actually bussed to the arena by the school district to see the game. The Princeton Posse Junior Hockey Club lets the students in for free as an early Christmas gift.
The Coyotes scored first at 15:15 of the opening frame. Colin Bell got the point with Carter Robinson and Nick Nordstrom helping. They added one more goal with just 59.4-seconds left in the period to make it 2-0. Sam Reinbolt scored it with assists going to Connor Onstein and Hunter Johnson.
The second period saw Osoyoos widen their lead at 5:59 with an unassisted goal by Sam Reinbolt. Although the scoreboard saw little activity, both penalty boxes was where most of the action occurred in the second period with a total of 15 infractions called with Princeton earning ten of them.
By the time the third period started, things had settled down…slightly. Osoyoos added a power play goal at 18:50 (Judd Repole from Cameron Welch and Carter Robinson) to make it 4-0 and at 8:48 changed the score to 5-0 with an unassisted goal scored by Judd Repole. It was after that goal when the Princeton goalies switched and the Posse got on the scoreboard at 5:29 with a power play goal of their own. Lane French got the credit with assistance coming from Dawson Wollf and Morton Johnston.
Although the scoreboard did not show it, both teams played consistently according to the stats sheet as shots on goal were recorded as 11 each period for Osoyoos and 7 each period for Princeton.
Final score: Osoyoos 5, Princeton 1. Shots on Goal: Osoyoos 33, Princeton 21.
Two nights later, on December 15, Princeton hosted North Okanagan Knights. The evening was marked as the Logan Lay Fundraiser Game with several gift baskets raffled off during the game. Proceeds went to support the daughter of a former-Princeton couple who has been battling brain cancer for the past 12 years.
North Okanagan scored first at 8:29 of the first period. Ben Jossinet earned the point with help from Levis Harris. Princeton tied the game at 4:20with a goal scored by Ethan Schmor. Assists went to Austin O’Neil and Justin Fodchuk.
The second period saw the Posse take the lead with a goal scored by Chad Kimmie at 18:28. Assists went to Tristyn Olsen and Noah Brusse. Princeton made it 3-1 at 9:52 with a goal scored by Tristyn Olsen. He was helped by Dawson Wollf and Chad Kimmie.
The third period saw Princeton stretch their lead at 19:26 (Kole Halvorson from Drew Carter) and add yet another goal at 14:20 (Linden Gove from Drew Carter). By this time the home team had a comfortable 5-1 lead. The Knights did add another goal at 3:15. Alec MacLeod earned the point on the unassisted goal.
Final Score: Princeton 5, North Okanagan 2. Shots on Goal: North Okanagan 47, Princeton 43.
