Posse Have An Off Night
It happens every so often. Sooner or later after some pretty good games and the odd squeaker, you have an off night. November 24 was that night for the Princeton Posse. They hosted Osoyoos Coyotes and it did not take the visiting team long to get things moving.
The first period saw a seesaw battle between the teams with a couple of penalties on both sides presenting power play opportunities. It was during one such opportunity that Osoyoos scored the first goal of the game. Judd Repole got it with help from Sam Reinbolt and Colin Bell. By the end of the period Osoyoos had out-shot Princeton 12-7.
The second period saw more penalties and power plays. Osoyoos turned on the heat dominating the scoreboard adding a total of three more unanswered goals. They were scored at 14:34 (Connor Onstein from Hunter Johnson and Sam Reinbolt), 5:42 on the power play (Hunter Johnson from Judd Repole and Colin Bell) and at 2:50. That goal was the result of Princeton’s goalie reacting to a series of rebounds and sliding to his right to block a shot leaving the far side of the net wide open. Credit for that score went to Judd Repole with an assist to Colin Bell. It brought the score to 4-0 in favour of Osoyoos.
In the third period Osoyoos continued to roll over the Posse taking advantage of Princeton penalties. The Coyotes added their fifth goal of the night at 16:32 on the power play. Carter Shannon took credit with assistance coming from Colin Bell and Judd Repole. Their sixth goal was a bit of a fluke at 14:38. Again, on the power play, Osoyoos pounded the Posse net. A shot from the Coyotes’ Cameron Welch was stopped and the puck ended up in the goal crease in front of a yawning open half of the net. Colin Bell gently tapped it from the side of the net and the puck slowly rolled past the goal line.
Goal #7 was scored at 6:57 when Osoyoos was short handed. Carter Shannon got the point with help from Daniel Paul. The final goal of the game was scored at 2:54by Judd Repole on the power play. An assist went to Colin Bell. Although a late period goalie switch was made by the Posse, the game was well out of reach by that point. In fact, the Coyotes had out shot Princeton 13-4 in the final frame. It was the first time this season where the Posse fell to an eight goal defeat. The majority of their loses have been close ones so clearly this was an off night for the team.
Final Score: Osoyoos 8, Princeton 0. Shots on Goal: Osoyoos 42, Princeton 24.
