Posse Take A 2-0 Weekend

  In one of only a few times this season the Princeton Posse hosted a pair of weekend home games. The first match was October 6 at Princeton Arena against Sicamous Eagles. The Eagles came to the Similkameen Valley without a win so far in the regular season. In fact, Sicamous was holding on to the bottom of the league standings as the only winless team in the KIJHL.

  Princeton scored first at 16:03 of the opening period. The point went to the newest member of the team Dawson Wollf. He had help from teammates Ethan Schmor and Drew Carter. The Posse added another one at9:08 which was scored by Linden Gove. Drew Carter and Kole Halvorson both earned assists.

  The second period was owned by Princeton on the scoreboard with four more unanswered goals. They made it 3-0 at 9:24 (Ethan Schmor from Dawson Wollf and Caymen Froude). At 7:58 Dawson Jenner made it 4-0 with a goal that clanged off the post and into the net. He had help from Philippe Lam and Kirt Fortney. Then seconds later at 6:31, Kole Halvorson extended the Posse lead to 5-0. Tristyn Olson got an assist on the play.

  The Posse not only dominated on the scoreboard but after 40-minutes of play they had out-shot Sicamous 34-26.

  The third period started with another Posse goal at 15:44. Drew Carter scored the short-handed goal off a pass from Noah Brusse. Carter sailed onto the goal and popped a fast shot into the top right corner of the net. Sicamous managed to reply 27-seconds later with their only goal of the night which was credited to Tyler Collens with an assist going to Aaron Plessis.

  Final Score: Princeton 6, Sicamous 1. Shots on Goal: Princeton 47, Sicamous 36.

  The following night, October 7, Princeton hosted the North Okanagan Knights.

  The game experienced a 30-minute delay as the Knights bus had apparently broken down on the trip somewhere between Keremeos and Princeton. When the pre-game warm-up started at 7:00 PM, the Knights hit the ice in their stunning pink jerseys in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

  The first period sailed by with no scoring.

  Period Number Two saw Princeton get on the scoreboard first with a goal at 10:50. The marker was scored by Noah Brusse who had help from Cameron McAllister and Austin O’Neil. Less than a minute later – 50-seconds to be precise – Princeton scored again. Nicholas Graham earned that one with assists going to Aubrey Macleod and Philippe Lam.

  North Okanagan Knights waited until the final period to score. It was at 8:50 and credit went to Carl Main. Brendan Durant and Jason Shaigac helped with setting that up. At 3:15 Princeton’s Linden Gove scored what looked at first as possibly another Posse goal but after the officials checked their eyewitness testimonies against each other, it was declared a No Goal as “the puck did not go in” according to the report. The Knights pulled goalie Zack Willms for the final 45-seconds for an extra man but that didn’t help.

  Final Score: Princeton 2, North Okanagan Knights 1. Shots on Goal: Princeton 47, North Okanagan 34.

  The Posse with spend the next two weeks playing road games with their next home game not until Sunday, October 22. That will be an afternoon match against Summerland.
